In a significant stride towards enhancing healthcare services in Mushin, Hon. Rasaq Olusola Ajala, the Chairman of Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA, officially inaugurated the rehabilitated Block D at the Oliyide General Hospital.
This revitalization effort, spearheaded by the LCDA, marks a pivotal moment for the hospital, which serves as a cornerstone for healthcare delivery in the community.
The inauguration ceremony, held within the hospital premises, was graced by esteemed guests and stakeholders. Dr. Oluyemi Taiwo, the Medical Director of the hospital, expressed profound gratitude to Ajala for his commitment to healthcare improvement.
“Hon. Ajala has walked his talk, fulfilling his promise to aid us by rehabilitating Block D,” she remarked, highlighting the crucial role this refurbishment plays in reactivating the eye unit and general surgery departments, which had been dormant prior to this intervention.
Dr. Taiwo also underscored ongoing needs, such as the connection of the Maternal and Child Center at Eleja in Itire to the National Grid and the enhancement of the hospital’s Emergency Center. She appealed to philanthropists for support in these areas.
In his address, Hon. Ajala commended the hospital’s management for their dedication to providing quality healthcare services. Reflecting on the collaboration, he stated,
“Our visit to the hospital and subsequent deliberations led to the decision to renovate Block D, which we proudly commission today.”
He emphasized the importance of establishing a healthcare center in Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA, noting that this area lacks such a facility compared to its counterparts, Itire and New Mushin.
Various dignitaries, including Dr. Olawale Adegbite, representing the Permanent Secretary of the Health Service Commission, and Dr. Oseni Salisu, MD of Isolo General Hospital, praised Hon. Ajala’s initiative.
They encouraged continued support and collaboration to equip the hospital with modern facilities, leveraging existing personnel and expertise.
The event, attended by council officials, party executives, and community leaders, was highlighted by the formal commissioning of the newly restored block. This development not only exemplifies effective governance but also strengthens the healthcare infrastructure essential for community well-being.
