In an interview with Al Jazeera Arabic, Khalil Al-Hayya, a member of Hamas political bureau, condemned the recent Israeli airstrike on Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, which resulted in the tragic deaths of at least 73 individuals.
The attack, occurring earlier this evening, has intensified the ongoing conflict and sparked outrage among Palestinian leaders.
Al-Hayya emphasized the systematic nature of the violence, stating, “The Zionist occupation [Israel] is carrying out a programmed operation to displace our people in northern Gaza.” He asserted that the atrocities committed during this assault must not go unnoticed, declaring, “The occupation’s massacre in Beit Lahiya project must not go unnoticed.”
In a rallying cry for solidarity, he urged the Arab and Islamic communities to take action against what he termed the “Israeli occupation,” stating, “The Arab and Islamic masses must besiege the [Israeli] occupation embassies and the American embassies.” This call for international protest underscores the urgency he feels in addressing the situation.
Al-Hayya expressed skepticism regarding the Israeli military’s capabilities, asserting, “We doubt that the occupation army will be able to implement the generals’ plan, and the enemy is lying when it says that it is not [trying to implement it].” He conveyed a strong message of resilience, insisting that “Our people in the Gaza Strip will not respond to the Israeli generals’ plan to displace them.”
He reminded the global community of their moral obligation, stating, “We must remind everyone of their historical responsibility towards the massacres committed by the occupation.” Al-Hayya’s statements reflect the deepening crisis as tensions continue to escalate in the region.
