Yorùbá Nation activist Sunday Igboho has made a poignant statement regarding the plight of many former Nigerian leaders, asserting that they are enduring significant suffering in their later years.
This assertion was made in a viral video that has since circulated widely on social media.
Igboho attributes this hardship to the profound pain and suffering that these leaders inflicted upon the Nigerian populace during their tenures in power.
He specifically highlighted the case of former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida, who is now wheelchair-bound, emphasizing the enduring impact of his leadership on the nation.
“Ibrahim Babangida, who now finds himself in a wheelchair, caused immense suffering for Nigerians during his time in office. Despite accumulating vast wealth, he now faces the consequences of his actions,” Igboho stated.
He further illustrated his point by sharing a personal anecdote: “I have a brother who once served as a federal legislator, and he is now reduced to begging for money to eat. He is entirely destitute.”
Igboho lamented, “None of these former leaders can claim to live in peace. They are relentlessly pursued by the curses of the impoverished masses they once governed.”
In his remarks, he urged current leaders to reflect on their legacies and consider the future of the nation.
He noted that many former local government chairmen have fallen into destitution.
“Any leader whose primary goal is to inflict suffering will ultimately face the repercussions of their actions,” he concluded.
