The directive was issued in a memo titled “Sign-Out Ceremony: A Call for Moderation,” urging students to apply caution during celebrations.
The institution’s management acknowledged that while the sign-out ceremony marks a significant milestone in students’ academic journey, it has led to unfortunate and avoidable tragedies in past years. To prevent such occurrences, the management has banned any form of extravagant celebration on campus.
The memo emphasized that no funfair or disruptive activities will be tolerated. Final-year students are instructed to complete their examinations and leave campus promptly without engaging in any festivities.
Specific prohibitions include:
No vehicle entry for students
No musical displays on or around the campus
No processions or gatherings of any kind
No chanting of provocative songs
The memo highlighted the dangers associated with uncontrolled celebrations, which have led to the loss of lives in both Osun Polytechnic and other institutions. The management stressed the importance of moderation and urged students to prioritize their safety.
