Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, has officially flagged off the 2024 Zuma International Film Festival.
The festival, which celebrates Nigeria’s vibrant film industry, promises to be a global spectacle with over 3,120 film submissions from filmmakers across the world.
Ngufan Shaaji Ugwuanyi, reporting from the event, highlighted the significance of this year’s theme, “Digital Renaissance: Embracing the Future.”
The theme aims to explore the transformative power of digital technology in modern filmmaking, positioning Nigeria as a major player in the global film industry.
Speaking at the flag-off, Musawa emphasized the role of the festival in showcasing Nigeria’s artistic excellence and the creative economy’s potential.
She noted, “This festival is not just a celebration of film; it’s a celebration of our identity, culture, and the limitless possibilities that digital technology brings to the table.”
With hundreds of international filmmakers, actors, and enthusiasts expected to attend, the 2024 Zuma International Film Festival is poised to shine a spotlight on the future of filmmaking, embracing new technologies while paying homage to the rich cultural heritage of Nigerian cinema.
