Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has officially declared Monday, October 7, 2024, as a work-free day for teachers across the state, coinciding with this year’s Teachers’ Day celebrations.
During a celebration held at the Cultural Centre in Kuto, Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun announced, “This is to inform you that the Ogun State Government has declared Monday, October 7, 2024, as teachers’ holiday.” Following this declaration, schools in Ogun are scheduled to resume academic activities on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
In a collaborative effort to support this initiative, the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Ogun State chapter, has communicated to its members that all schools are expected to observe this holiday, stating, “In line with this directive, all schools are expected to observe the holiday. Therefore, academic activities are suspended tomorrow.”
Also, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has also proclaimed Monday, October 7, 2024, as a work-free day for all teachers in both public and private schools, in honor of the 2024 World Teachers Day. Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, underscored the significance of this holiday, emphasizing its purpose to celebrate the invaluable contributions of teachers to the education sector.
Governor Adeleke conveyed his sentiments regarding the occasion, stating, “While it gladdens my heart and that of my administration to declare tomorrow (Monday) as public holiday throughout Osun state, I admonish all teachers to use the one-day public holiday as a means to cast a look at the past, present, and future development of the state in the education sector.”
Moreover, he reassured educators of his administration’s unwavering support, saying, “I am using this opportunity for the umpteenth time to assure you that my administration will continue to do everything morally and officially possible to put smiles on your faces in order to make you happy and fulfilled as purveyors of knowledge in this dear state of ours, Osun.”
