In a heartwarming celebration that echoed with gratitude, Landmark College, Ikorodu hosted its annual Staff Appreciation today, a momentous event commemorating the global celebration of Teachers’ Day in 2024.
The school hall was filled with an atmosphere of joy and recognition as parents, students, and staff came together to honour the dedicated staff who shape young minds.
In his stirring welcome address, Principal Mr. Sanni J.A. set the tone for the event, emphasizing the vital role teachers play in society.
“This celebration is not just a formality; it is a heartfelt acknowledgment of the countless hours and unwavering commitment our teachers invest in our children,” he remarked.
“Teaching is often a thankless job, but remember, only God can appreciate you as expected. Your efforts are invaluable, and today we celebrate you.”
Parents’ representatives were also present at the event, offering words of encouragement to the educators.
Mrs. Oworu shared her heartfelt appreciation: “The dedication and passion of our teachers do not go unnoticed. They are the guiding lights in our children’s lives, and we are grateful for their relentless efforts.”
Mrs. Ogunsakin added, “This day is a reminder of the importance of our teachers. They are not just instructors; they are mentors and role models. Thank you for your hard work and commitment to our children’s education.”
Mrs. Amusan offered heartfelt prayers for the staff and students during the celebration, stating, “May God bless our dedicated teachers with strength and wisdom as they continue to nurture and guide our children. I pray for the students as well, that they may thrive in their studies and grow into remarkable individuals. Together, let us support each other in this noble journey of education.”
The celebration was filled with a variety of engaging activities, including dance performances, musical presentations, state drama, mimickery, and choreography, showcasing the vibrant talents of the students.
The highlight of the event was the enthusiastic presentation of prizes by the principal.
According to him, the prizes aimed to recognize outstanding staff members across various categories.
Cash prizes were awarded to the best staff from the kitchen, hostel, departments, classes, and among the year tutors.
Furthermore, long-serving staff members who have dedicated over a decade to the college were also honoured with cash prizes, acknowledging their loyalty and service to the school community.
The atmosphere reached a crescendo with the cutting of cakes and presentations of awards to symbolise the sweet success of the day.
