In a significant operation on September 29, 2024, at approximately 11:30 PM, a police-led security force successfully neutralized an armed secessionist during a patrol in Aguata Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State.
The operation was sparked by intelligence reports regarding the presence of suspected armed men traveling in a black Pardo Jeep along the Igbo Ukwu/Ezinifite Uga axis.
The operatives, taking an offensive approach, engaged the armed individuals in a gun battle, resulting in the demobilization of one suspect while others managed to escape.
The Security Forces recovered an impressive cache of weapons and dangerous items, including two AK-47 rifles, one pump-action gun, two magazines loaded with live ammunition, and fifteen live cartridges.
Additionally, the operatives seized one black Pardo Jeep, which bore two different plate numbers, two police body armored vests, three face caps, one black handbag, and various types of criminal charms.
“Clearance operations are still ongoing, and further details shall be communicated,” stated SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for Anambra State Police Command in Awka.
