Nasarawa State, a woman who faked her pregnancy was arrested for abducting a seven-day-old baby girl during a naming ceremony.
The incident unfolded on September 28, 2024, around 6:30 PM, as confirmed by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state police command.
The suspect, identified as Khadija Aliyu, attended the joyous occasion under the guise of celebrating with the family.
According to DSP Nansel’s statement, “The suspect, who has been claiming to be pregnant, attended a naming ceremony at Behind INEC office, Keffi.
While the event was ongoing, she sneaked into the house and stole the baby that was laid to sleep, carried the child behind her back, covered her with a veil and escaped before she was later arrested.”
This cunning act of deception not only rattled the community but also highlighted the vigilance of the Keffi Division police operatives who successfully apprehended Aliyu before further harm could be done.
