Two young boxers from Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have won gold medals at the recently concluded National Youth Games held in Delta State, Asaba.
Michael Bolarinwa, representing the male 44 kg category, and Agboola Oyindamola, competing in the female 40 kg category, showcased exceptional skill and resilience, bringing pride to their community and Lagos State.
The competition required each state to nominate four boxers, and Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA proudly secured two of the four slots allocated to Lagos State. Following their triumphant achievement, Bolarinwa and Oyindamola, accompanied by their coaches, paid a visit to the Chairman of Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Rasaq Ajala (HRA), to express their gratitude and share their success.
During the meeting, HRA warmly congratulated the young athletes for their hard work and determination to elevate Lagos State’s reputation in sports.
“You have shown that our dear state and LCDA have the potential to present youth who not only compete but excel,” he stated.
He emphasized the importance of supporting young talents and pledged to continue fostering their growth in sports, education, and personal development, aiming to steer them away from negative influences.
The chairman also expressed his appreciation for Coach Ashimota, who has played a vital role in training these promising athletes.
“Your dedication and talent, coupled with our support for sporting activities, have paid off,” he added.
He reinforced the notion that Mushin youth can achieve greatness beyond the stereotypes often associated with them.
Both Bolarinwa and Oyindamola beamed with joy as they reflected on their achievements, expressing heartfelt thanks to God, their families, coaches, and HRA for their unwavering support.
Coach Ashimota appreciated the chairman’s continuous backing as instrumental in their success.
“His efforts have led to the medals we celebrate today, and I pray for his continued blessings,” he remarked.
