Renowned Fuji artiste, Alhaji (Dr.) Sefiu Alao Adekunle, affectionately known as Baba Oko and Agbara Orin, has vehemently responded to allegations made by fellow Fuji musician Taye Adebisi Akande, popularly known as Taye Currency.
The accusations surfaced in a viral video where Taye Currency claimed that Sefiu Alao had previously “copied” the style of a more established Fuji artist during his rise in the industry.

During a recent performance at a party, Taye Currency, also referred to as Baba Honourable, made a bold statement, identifying Sefiu Alao among several Fuji stars, asserting that they had once emulated the musical style of other Fuji greats.
This claim has ignited considerable backlash from fans and followers of the Fuji music genre.
In response to these allegations, Sefiu Alao’s Media Manager, Saheed Ojubanire, issued a clear rebuttal, stating, “Nothing could be farther from the truth than the blatant pronouncement, publicly, by Taye Currency that Baba Oko once copied any artiste or anyone, for that matter.” Ojubanire elaborated that Taye Currency may be confusing the concept of viewing senior colleagues as role models with actual imitation of their music styles.
Ojubanire further emphasized, “If he had said that Sefiu Alao once regarded the senior Fuji artiste he mentioned as one of his (Sefiu Alao) role models, it would have been a little more acceptable than telling a story of his senior colleagues in the industry that he knew nothing about, because he is too young to tell such stories.”
Adding to the discussion, Ojubanire revealed that Taye Currency has been working with a music producer based in Agege, Lagos State, who has allegedly been feeding him misleading narratives about the history and evolution of the Fuji music genre. Ojubanire questioned, “If not, where on earth is the existence of any live or studio album Sefiu Alao could be said to have copied the style of the Fuji artiste he mentioned, unless Sefiu Alao is paying homage to the said artiste and decided to sing one of the senior Fuji musician’s popular songs in his honour?”
In conclusion, Ojubanire advised Taye Currency to exercise caution and verify the information provided by his new music producer before making public claims. He warned, “If not, the said music producer would further lead him astray, a development that could bring him to further condemnation, like the current situation has done.
