The Federal Government has officially declared Monday, the 16th of September, 2024, as a public holiday.
This announcement was made through a press statement released by the Ministry of Interior on the 13th of September, 2024.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, extending heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim Ummah both within the country and in the Diaspora.
“We congratulate the Muslim Ummah on this sacred occasion,” said Dr. Tunji-Ojo, emphasizing the significance of the celebration.
The minister urged the Muslim community and Nigerians at large to embrace virtues such as patience, sacrifice, and resilience.
“Let us use this period as a time for introspection and prayer for enduring peace and a more prosperous, egalitarian nation,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo implored.
Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary, also endorsed the statement, reinforcing the call for unity and peace during this symbolic festival.
The government encourages all citizens to engage in prayers and reflections that foster national harmony and growth during this special time.
