The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has raised the fuel price to over N850 per litre, following a directive from its management to increase the official price from N568 to N855.
Reports indicate that filling stations across the country, including those in Ilorin, Kwara State, have complied with this new pricing.
In Ilorin, one NNPC station is currently selling fuel for N877 per litre, while a station in Lagos has the price set at N855. A viral video on social media shows Nigerians expressing their frustrations regarding the price hike, with one customer noting the new rate in Lagos.
Additionally, some filling stations in northern Nigeria are reportedly selling fuel at prices as high as N930 per litre, with many privately owned stations ceasing operations to adjust their prices accordingly.
This price adjustment comes amid the recent unveiling of the Dangote Refinery’s first sample of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) produced in Lagos, which is expected to impact the fuel market.
