Inspector General Muhammadu Gambo was determined to bring the Anini Boys to justice. He assembled a crack team of detectives, led by the brilliant and relentless Superintendent, Chris Omeben.
Omeben was a master strategist, with a deep understanding of the criminal mind. He studied Anini’s tactics, looking for patterns and weaknesses.
Meanwhile, the rift between Anini and Osunbor grew wider. Osunbor, fueled by jealousy and resentment, began secretly collaborating with Omeben.
The final showdown was set in motion when Osunbor tipped off Omeben about an impending heist. Anini, unaware of the betrayal, led his team into a trap.
On February 15, 1986, the Anini Boys attempted to rob a bank in Benin City. But Omeben and his team were waiting. A fierce gun battle ensued, and Anini was captured.
As he was led away in handcuffs, Anini realized too late that his trusted friend had betrayed him. Osunbor’s treachery had brought the Anini Boys’ reign of terror to an end.
But Anini’s legend lived on, even as he faced justice. His story would become a cautionary tale about the dangers of crime and the power of redemption.
