On February 15, 1986, the Anini Boys attempted to rob a bank in Benin City. But Omeben and his team were waiting. A fierce gun battle ensued, and Anini was captured.
As he was led away in handcuffs, Anini realized too late that his trusted friend had betrayed him. Osunbor’s treachery had brought the Anini Boys’ reign of terror to an end.
But Anini’s legend lived on, even as he faced justice. His story would become a cautionary tale about the dangers of crime and the power of redemption.
