Lagos NYCN organises leadership workshop for Lagos youth

The Lagos State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), under the chairmanship of Engr Ibrahim Adigun, has conducted a youth leadership workshop.

This event which was held on Thursday August 29, 2024 was part of the International Youth Week celebration.

The chairman expressed his pride and enthusiasm, stating, “Delivering on one of our administrative goals — to build the capacity of youths across the state — today we held our much-talked-about Youth Leadership Workshop in grand style.”

The workshop, attended by thousands of youth as well as other dignitaries. Among the attendees were the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogundele, and other distinguished guests.

Others were the Vice-Chancellor of LASUSTECH, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya; Hon. Temitope Adewale Adedeji, Member House of Assembly representing Ifako Ijaiye Constituency 1 and the Vice-Chairman of Agege Local Government, Hon Gbenga Abiola.

Also at the event were the PRO of conference 57 and Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Builder Olusesan Daini, as well as other chairmen of the Ikorodu Division

Participants were encouraged to embrace digitalization as a tool to project their talents and unique skills, paving the way for self-development and ethical leadership.

While sharing his admiration for the talent on display, Adigun noted, “I was also overwhelmed by the talent displays by Lagos youths, including spoken word, ewì, and stage drama. These performances reflected the hidden potential of Lagos youth, which NYCN Lagos, under my leadership, will continue to identify and project.”

Acknowledging the support received, he extended his gratitude to key figures and institutions that contributed to the success of the event.

“My special appreciation goes to the Governor of Lagos State, the Deputy Governor, the Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, the three distinguished Senators from Lagos State, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, the SSA to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, the 57 Council Chairmen across Lagos, especially those in the Ikorodu Division, and other distinguished guests who graced the event.”

He also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of NYCN Lagos leaders and stakeholders, as well as the youth who participated, reinforcing the collaborative spirit that made the workshop a resounding success.
