To promote a culture of inclusivity, unity, and collective action, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Lagos State Chapter has established its directorates, tasked with spearheading diverse initiatives and activities that drive youth development and progress.

The event was chaired by the state Chairman, Engr. Adigun Ibrahim, MNSE, with hundreds of members from the 57 local branches and affiliated Voluntary Youth Organizations present.
In his remarks, Adigun highlighted that the event reinforced his administration’s dedication to upholding Article 16.3 of the NYCN constitution 2018 as amended, which mandates the establishment of directorates within 90 days of the tenure.
He compared the directorates to government ministries, explaining that they will operate as specialized units responsible for different facets of youth development and engagement.
Adigun further elaborated that each directorate will concentrate on areas such as education and training, sports, recreation and social affairs, agricultural development, and health, among others, to ensure NYCN’s initiatives are deeply integrated across the 57 LGAs and LCDAs in the state, making them comprehensive and impactful.
Programmes Officer, Comrade Lekan Akintobi, stressed the crucial role of the directorates in advancing the council’s agenda and enhancing the coordination and implementation of youth-focused programs, as he listed the members’ names.
The state chairman announced that the directorate members’ portfolios would be disclosed soon and encouraged them to work diligently and collaboratively to support the state executive in fulfilling its mandates to the entire youth constituency.
