The Austin Agada-led All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has announced its slate of candidates for the upcoming Local Government elections scheduled for October 5, 2024.
The party has nominated 23 chairmanship and 276 councillorship candidates, marking a crucial step in their preparation for the elections.
A statement released by the media office of the APC state chairman in Abuja detailed the selection process. According to the statement, the primary elections were conducted through a combination of consensus and affirmations, reflecting a broad agreement among party members across most local governments and council wards.
Samuel Atsuku, a participant in the primary election in Tarka Local Government, praised the commitment of the party’s stakeholders, attributing the success of the primaries to their dedication and unity.
“The stakeholders in Tarka LGA have shown remarkable commitment, which has significantly contributed to the smooth conduct of our primary election,” Atsuku noted.
In Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Simon Aluor, another primary election participant, highlighted the party’s exemplary conduct.
“The APC has demonstrated orderliness and peace, setting a good example for other parties,” Aluor stated. Meanwhile, in Gboko, the primaries concluded peacefully with Basil Yina emerging as the party’s flag bearer for the upcoming local government election.
The statement further emphasized that the primary elections were held in all ward headquarters across the 23 local government areas of Benue State on Saturday, August 24, 2024. The orderly and peaceful execution of this large-scale political exercise reflects the APC’s organizational strength and readiness for the forthcoming elections.
