A fully loaded high-capacity Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle tipped over in the dedicated BRT lane at Iyana Ipaja, leaving 10 passengers injured.
The accident, which has sent shockwaves through the community, occurred shortly after the bus departed from the BRT park in the bustling area.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) provided an update on the situation via social media platform X, revealing that the bus collided with an abandoned pedestrian bridge foot immediately after the Iyana Ipaja bridge. This collision was the catalyst for the bus’s dramatic fall onto its side.
Authorities have confirmed that all 10 victims have received the necessary medical attention. Their prompt actions ensured that the injured passengers were taken care of without delay.
However, the accident has not come without consequences. Significant disruption to traffic has ensued in the area, prompting efforts to clear the lane and restore normalcy to the traffic flow. In light of the ongoing situation, motorists and commuters are advised to exercise caution and adhere to traffic directives as authorities work diligently to resolve the chaos.
