The Lagos State University School of Basic and Advanced Studies (LASUSBAS) has garnered commendations for the seamless conduct of the ongoing Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) 2024 final examination.
This praise highlights the institution dedication to maintaining high standards in both academic preparation and examination execution.
Chief examination supervisor, Prof. Solomon Akinboye from the University of Lagos, lauded the school’s efforts during his visit on Wednesday, 21st August 2024. Prof. Akinboye, while overseeing the Chemistry Practical examination at the LASUSBAS Campus in Topo, Badagry, stated,
“The exam has been running seamlessly and we are impressed. Apart from some teething problems, which are normal, everything has been seamless so far.”
His positive feedback underscores the well-organized mechanisms implemented by LASUSBAS to ensure a smooth examination process.
The Director of the School, Prof. Yunus Adeleke Dauda, expressed confidence in the students’ performance due to the extensive preparatory measures undertaken.
Dauda, a professor of Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management, remarked,
“We have put in the highest level of preparation for the exam, thanks to the university management who has done so much by giving us all we need to ensure the success of the process.”
He further added, “We have done our best to prepare our students for the exams. We have one of the largest numbers of students that we have recorded in this programme so far, and we have taken care of all they need to make sure that they are successful. The students are also very prepared and based on that, and with the support of the management, I believe our students will be highly successful.”
The oversight of the examination process was also ensured by the presence of the Deputy Director, Dr. Ronke Saibu, and the Assistant Director, Dr. Waheed Akingbade. Their on-ground supervision provided an additional layer of assurance for the smooth conduct of the exams.
In the current academic session, LASUSBAS admitted approximately 733 students into the JUPEB programme, with 476 of them participating in the Chemistry Practical examination on Wednesday.
The examination environment was controlled and secured, with students undergoing a series of security checks and biometric clearances before being allowed entry into the examination hall.
As the 2023/2024 final examinations, which commenced on Monday, 19th August 2024, are scheduled to conclude on Friday, 30th August 2024, the school has already opened registration for the 2024/2025 JUPEB programme.
