Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially inaugurated the Mushin flyover, the final installment of the five overpasses constructed along the Red Line corridor.
The inauguration was held today with the presence of the deputy governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, and the Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, 𝘏𝘰𝘯 Rasaq Olusola Ajala.
“Today, I formally commissioned (sic) this infrastructure, which I believe will bring a new commuting experience to the community,” Governor Sanwo-Olu announced during the unveiling ceremony.
The governor emphasized that the new flyover is designed to significantly improve safety by separating pedestrian and vehicular traffic from the train tracks, thereby minimizing the risk of accidents.
The Mushin flyover is strategically positioned to provide new, efficient routes to major thoroughfares such as Agege Motor Road, Post Office Road, and Ogunmokun.
This enhancement is expected to ease travel, reduce congestion, and catalyze economic activities in the area, providing a much-needed boost to the local economy.
In his statement, Gov Sanwo-Olu said that the primary school, which had to be demolished to make way for the overpass, has been successfully rebuilt in a nearby location.
This commitment to maintaining educational infrastructure underscores the balanced approach of the administration in fostering development without compromising essential community services.
“I encourage everyone to take care of this infrastructure and to help protect it from any intentional damage,” urged the governor.
He called for communal responsibility and importance of preserving public assets for the benefit of all residents.
