Basit Akinade, a proud alumnus of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), has been awarded a Master’s Degree in Geomatics with Distinction from the prestigious University of Florida in Gainesville, USA.
This was disclosed in a post on FUTA Facebook page on Thursday 15 August, 2024.
According to the post, his remarkable journey does not end here; Basit is set to begin his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geography, specializing in Remote Sensing and GIScience, at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa later this month.
Basit, who graduated from FUTA in the 2017/18 academic session from the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics (SVG), has consistently showcased academic excellence. During his time at the university, he earned the title of Best Graduating Student both in his department and in the School of Environmental Technology (SET).
His accolades include three prestigious awards for being the best graduating student in his department, his school, and for achieving the highest number of appearances on the Dean’s List in SET.
Expressing his gratitude, Basit commented, “This is a proud moment for me and my family. I am so grateful to the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) for giving me an outstanding stepping stone for this monumental moment in my life.”
