The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Lagos State Area Unit is set to proudly represent Nigeria at the upcoming Al-Fourqane International Qur’an Memorization, Recitation, and Tajweed Competition in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
This prestigious event, taking place from August 10th to August 17th, 2024, will bring together participants from across the globe, each showcasing their dedication and mastery of the Holy Qur’an.
The MSSN Lagos contingent, led by their Amir, Kamoldeen Abiona, is scheduled to depart Lagos for Abidjan on Saturday, carrying with them the hopes and prayers of the entire Muslim community in the state and Nigeria at large.
This year’s competition marks the second edition of the Al-Fourqane International Qur’an Competition, which has quickly become a significant event for Muslim student associations in West Africa.
Organizers of the competition have outlined strict criteria for participation, ensuring that only the best and most dedicated students take part. Participants must have memorized the entire Qur’an (Hafiz), be under 25 years old, and be members of a Muslim Students Association. Additionally, they must exhibit good moral character and be actively enrolled as students. Travel and accommodation expenses are covered by AEEMCI, the organizing body.
Speaking ahead of the competition, Amir Kamoldeen Abiona expressed immense pride in the participants and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their preparation.
“Insha’Allah, we are confident that our contingents will not only perform excellently but also uphold the values and principles of Islam,” Abiona said.
“MSSN Lagos has always been a beacon of Islamic knowledge and practice, and our participation in this competition is yet another opportunity to showcase the fruits of our dedication.”
Abiona urged the participants to give their best, not just in the competition but in their conduct as ambassadors of Islam and Nigeria.
“Let the Qur’an be your guide, and let your recitation reflect the beauty and wisdom of Allah’s words,” he added.
He also reaffirmed MSSN Lagos’s commitment to fostering a deep connection with the Qur’an among its members, highlighting that the group’s participation in the competition reflects the high standards it has set over the years.
“We are proud to carry the banner of MSSN Lagos and Nigeria to Abidjan, and we believe our participants will make us proud,” Abiona stated.
MSSN Lagos has a strong legacy of excellence in Qur’anic competitions, with their flagship Annual Lagos Qur’an Competition (LQC) being one of the most anticipated Islamic events in the region. The LQC has grown over the years, drawing participants from various MSSN branches and schools in Lagos State.
