The National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) held an induction ceremony for newly appointed zonal officers at its headquarters in Ondo City on Thursday. This event was designed to familiarize the new liaison officers with their roles and responsibilities within the Institute.
The ceremony, attended by key officials and stakeholders, served as a platform to instill the Institute’s vision, mission, and values in the new officers.
Bodunde Tenabe, Media Officer to the Acting Director General, emphasized the importance of this tradition, stating, “It is essential that our newly employed staff and appointed officers understand not only their duties but also the overarching objectives of NIEPA.”
Dr. David Shofoyeke, the Acting Director General and a former zonal head, addressed the audience with words of encouragement and insight drawn from his own journey. He stressed the significance of exemplary public service, urging the new officers to embody workplace ethics such as professionalism in attire, a thorough understanding of the Public Service Rules (PSR), and a commitment to their responsibilities.
“You represent not just yourselves, but NIEPA and the entire educational sector,” he stated. “With dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence, you can make a significant impact.”
The induction was further enriched by insights from Dr. Festus Olaolu, the Ag. Registrar of the Institute, who highlighted the critical need for transparency, accountability, and fairness in all administrative actions. He reminded the zonal officers of their pivotal role as representatives of NIEPA, urging them to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
“Your actions will reflect on both you and the Institute,” he said, reinforcing the weight of their responsibilities.
Mr. Afolabi Aládé, the former Coordinator of NIEPA Zonal Offices, provided practical advice to the new zonal heads, cautioning them against potential pitfalls in their duties. He emphasized the importance of effective communication, teamwork, and collaboration to successfully achieve the institute’s goals. “You must work together to promote NIEPA’s mandate and values,” he urged.
Dr. Oyeromi O. Samson, the Ag. Head of the Training and Research Department, praised the leadership of Dr. Shofoyeke, recognizing the ceremony as a “giant stride in excellent administration.” He commended the commitment to capacity building and staff development, noting that the achievements of the Ag. DG are a testament to his dedication to excellence.
The induction ceremony marked a new beginning for the zonal officers, who are now poised to play a vital role in promoting NIEPA’s mission and values throughout Nigeria.
