Hon. (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, recently inspected the newly completed Data Centre and Command and Control Centre at the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) headquarters. .
According to the minister, the facilities are set to be inaugurated shortly. He added that it would usher in a new era of efficiency and security in Nigeria’s immigration processes.
“The state-of-the-art Data Centre and Command and Control Centre are designed to support the government’s ambitious policies aimed at overhauling the visa and passport application regime, as well as bolstering border management systems,” the minister said.
These advanced installations are expected to streamline operations, enhance data security, and improve the overall responsiveness of the NIS.
“The completion of these new facilities marks a pivotal moment for the Nigeria Immigration Service,” stated Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo during his visit. “They are integral to our mission of establishing a more effective and efficient immigration system that can meet the demands of our rapidly evolving world.”
The Data Centre will serve as the central hub for processing and storing immigration-related data, ensuring that all records are maintained with the highest levels of accuracy and security.
Meanwhile, the Command and Control Centre will provide real-time monitoring and management of immigration activities across the nation’s borders, significantly enhancing the country’s ability to prevent illegal entry and manage migration flows effectively.
