Governor Mallam Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has made history by announcing the creation of the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy.
This groundbreaking move demonstrates the state’s commitment to sustainable energy and infrastructural development.
Dr. Siraja Musa, an esteemed academician with a background in electrical engineering and wireless communication, has been appointed as the pioneer commissioner of the ministry.
During the inauguration ceremony held at the Government House, Governor Namadi emphasized the significance of this new ministry, stating, “For the first time in the history of Jigawa State, we are creating the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy. Dr. Musa, as the pioneer commissioner, will play a crucial role in spearheading our efforts towards a greener and more energy-efficient future.”
The establishment of the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy entails the integration of various departments from other ministries, such as the Ministry of Works and the Ministry of Environment. Dr. Musa will collaborate closely with his colleagues to ensure a smooth transition and effective coordination of efforts.
Furthermore, Governor Namadi announced the creation of a new regulatory agency under the supervision of the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy. This agency will be responsible for regulating the distribution and transmission of electricity within the state, further enhancing Jigawa State’s power sector.
