In a press release issued by the Rebuild Arewa Initiative for Development (R.A.I.D), the group has expressed its opposition to the planned nationwide protests by the #EndBadGovernance movement.
Led by Comrade Bitako Abubakar Umar, Director of Strategic Communications and Publicity, the group argues that protests may not be the most effective solution to the challenges facing the country.
While acknowledging the hardships faced by Nigerians, including economic difficulties, insecurity, and social unrest, R.A.I.D cautioned that the genuine desire for progress could potentially be exploited by individuals with ulterior motives.
The group emphasized the need for dialogue and constructive engagement, urging Nigerian youths to channel their strength and wisdom towards finding sustainable solutions. R.A.I.D recognizes the right to protest as a democratic principle but believes that protests alone will not address the issues at hand.
Highlighting government policies that have the potential to benefit citizens, such as the Supreme Court’s judgment on Local Government Autonomy and the establishment of a Local Government Independent Electoral Commission, the group expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to democracy and visionary leadership.
Furthermore, R.A.I.D commended the federal government for its distribution of food palliatives, empowerment programs, and poverty-alleviation initiatives. The group called on the government to continue its efforts in easing the suffering of citizens, including the approval of duty-free importation of major food items and the introduction of new empowerment packages.
Overall, R.A.I.D advocates for a comprehensive approach to addressing the country’s challenges, emphasizing the importance of dialogue, constructive engagement, and effective implementation of government policies for the betterment of Nigeria and its citizens.
