The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has attended Ikorodu Division security town hall meeting.
The meeting was held on Wednesday July 24, 2024.
During the meeting, Comrade Ibrahim Adigun, the Chairman of the NYCN Lagos State chapter, called upon the youth in Ikorodu to have a rethink about the planned protests across the country.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders from both Ikorodu and Lagos State.
Comrade Adigun joined his Deputy Chairman, Vice Chairman Lagos East, and all coordinators of the Ikorodu division.
The gathering underscored the importance of unity and dialogue in addressing the concerns of the youth.
Notable attendees included CP Fayoade Adegoke, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, along with other high-ranking police officials, the Chairmen and Royal fathers of Ikorodu Division, and leaders from the market, Community Development Committee (CDC), and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Their presence highlighted the collective effort to address the pressing issues facing the youth.
During the town hall meeting, Comrade Adigun articulated the major concerns of the youth regarding the current state of the nation.
He fervently urged the youth of Ikorodu and Lagos to reconsider any inclinations towards violent protests.
“As the statutory representative of Lagos youth, the NYCN Lagos State will present our grievances to the government,” he assured, emphasizing the importance of constructive dialogue over disruptive actions.
Adigun’s appeal comes at a critical juncture, as the nation grapples with various socio-economic challenges. He stressed the need for a peaceful approach, reiterating that the NYCN Lagos State is committed to addressing the grievances of the youth through appropriate channels.
In addition to his call for peace, Comrade Adigun informed all stakeholders about the forthcoming NYCN Lagos State press conference scheduled for July 27th.
