Hon Rasaq Ajala (HRA), the Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has pledged unwavering support for a noteworthy project spearheaded by the Ilupeju Diamond Lions Club at Ayelabowo Primary School.
This promise was made during a courtesy visit by the club representatives to his office on Monday July 22, 2024.
Despite the project falling outside the jurisdiction of his LCDA, Hon. Ajala underscored the shared identity and unity between Mushin and Odi-Olowo.
“I will support the project you are embarking on at Ayelabowo Primary School even if it is not located in our LCDA, but I believe Mushin and Odi-Olowo is one entity,” the chairman affirmed, highlighting his commitment to fostering community development across borders.
Hon. Ajala expressed his pride in the Mushin community, emphasizing its diverse nature and the numerous achievements of its residents.
“Mushin is synonymous with what is happening in the world all over, where we have the good, the bad, and the ugly, but I want to assure you that the good segment in Mushin outnumbers the bad ones,” he stated.
He pointed to the success of local youths in international arenas, such as the football team that reached the round of 16 in Sweden’s Pothia Cup, as evidence of the community’s potential and talent.
The visit was also an opportunity for the Ilupeju Diamond Lions Club to express their gratitude for the chairman’s past support.
Club President, Lion Grace Sanya, conveyed their appreciation, saying, “We are here to say thank you for all the good things you have done for us in the past four years. We appreciate your support and encouragement for the club.”
Lion Sanya also highlighted the club’s recent community outreach efforts. “Today, we carried out sensitization on the outbreak of cholera, distributed hand sanitizers, and flyers to enlighten the community,” she reported, demonstrating the club’s proactive role in public health.
In response, Hon. Ajala lauded the club contributions to the community, particularly in public health awareness.
“We see you as an integral part of us and the role you are playing in sensitizing the people to the dangers of the cholera outbreak. Government is about service to humanity, which I believe your club also stands for,” he said.
Reiterating his commitment, HRA assured, “Whether I am a member of the club or not, I will continue to support you in every way I can.”
