Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA) marked a significant milestone with the graduation and certification ceremony for the beneficiaries of the Intensive Solar Technology Design and Installation training programme.
This event, held yesterday, celebrated the achievements of participants who successfully completed the transformative training initiative.
The programme, powered by the LCDA Chairman, Hon. Rasaq Olusola Ajala, was designed to foster independence and self-reliance among young individuals by equipping them with essential skills in solar technology.
Representing the council chairman at the event, Vice-Chairman Hon. Seyi Jakande praised the beneficiaries for their unwavering dedication and commitment throughout the training period.
Hon. Jakande highlighted that the initiative aligns with the administration’s overarching theme, “Common Pool for Common Benefits,” and reiterated the council’s commitment to its responsibilities.
“This programme is designed to equip young people with the skills necessary to become self-sufficient, self-reliant, and independent. They are now poised to make meaningful contributions to society and themselves,” emphasized Jakande.
He underscored the graduates’ new roles as ambassadors of sustainable energy, contributing to improved energy access and economic growth.
The success of this initiative, according to Jakande, is a testament to the power of teamwork and collaboration. He expressed gratitude to the legislative arms and the entire management staff for their indispensable support in making the programme a reality.
Guest speaker Barr. Ismail Yahya urged the graduates to embrace entrepreneurship, noting that the skills they acquired were not merely for job-seeking but for job creation.
“You need to cultivate a zeal for becoming employers,” Yahya advised. He also commended the council chairman for his visionary leadership, highlighting the consistent organization of impactful programmes.
He called upon the government to provide financial assistance to help the graduates establish their own businesses. “Support from the local government should include offering business establishment training,” he added.
The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the chairman, acknowledging the training’s potential to help them succeed independently.
“This training will definitely be instrumental in our excelling independently. We appreciate the chairman,” one of the beneficiaries told the HRA media team.
The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Hon. Rilwan Ola Ajenifuja, Leader of the Legislative Arm of Government, Councillors from different Wards, Council Secretary Hon. Mujeeb Ayinde Daramola, Supervisors from various Departments, Council Manager Mrs. Afolake Otenaike, Council Treasurer Mr. Rufai Mujitaba, and other Management Staff. Additionally, Hon. Mustapha Adeola Olaniyan, Secretary of the All Progressive Congress in Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA, party stalwart Alhaji Rafeeu Aderanmola, party leaders, and members were present.
