In recent days, a video has been making rounds on social media, depicting an argument between Councillors from the Ikorodu-West LCDA.
The Executive Chairman, Hon (Otunba) Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju FCA FCTI, has promptly issued a statement to clarify the situation and emphasise the ongoing positive developments within the community.
“Have you seen the video circulating online about an argument between the Councillors from Ikorodu-West LCDA?” the Chairman begins. “I would like to set the record straight here.” He explains that the video in question is nearly two years old and captures a disagreement that was swiftly resolved at the time.
Hon Olanrewaju underscores the constitutional principle of separation of powers, noting that any past misunderstandings within the legislative house do not implicate the Executive Cabinet.
“Any misunderstanding that might have happened over two years ago doesn’t concern the Executive Cabinet members,” he asserts. The Chairman points out a revealing detail in the video: the background of the building was unplastered at the time. “It has been plastered now with interlock,” he proudly states.
“Let’s not get distracted by old stories. Ikorodu West is moving forward with so many exciting projects, dotting the entire LCDA landscape,” Hon. Olanrewaju urges.
He emphasises that rumours and arguments only serve to divide the community. Instead, the focus should be on the positive developments that are making Ikorodu West a better place for all its residents.
The Chairman calls on the community to play an active role in this positive transformation.
“So, how can you help? Don’t share old videos that cause trouble. Spread the word about the good things happening in Ikorodu West!” he encourages.
“Let’s work together to build a brighter future, not focus on the past,” Hon. Olanrewaju concludes. “Together, we can make Ikorodu West a place where everyone feels united and positive!”
