The Management of Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin has issued a statement refuting an online report about a missing student from their institution.
The report, published by Leadership on Sunday, June 23, 2024, claimed that a 300-level Computer Engineering student named Akindoyo Gideon had gone missing in the Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State.
In response, Femi Afolayan, the Information Officer of Al-Hikmah University, clarified the following points that
Al-Hikmah University does not have a Computer Engineering Department at its Igbaja campus.
There is no record of a student named Akindoyo Gideon at either the Igbaja campus (Faculty of Agriculture) or the Department of Computer Science at the Adeta campus.
A thorough search of the university’s registered student list confirms that no student by that name exists.
All students are currently on Eid Adha break, and none are reported missing.
This refutal aims to inform the general public, particularly parents and guardians, to prevent any misinformation and concern regarding the safety and whereabouts of Al-Hikmah University students.
