A heavily pregnant woman due for delivery was kidnapped by unknown assailants while on her way to the hospital in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
The victim, identified as Mrs. Ogunbunmi, was en route to the state General Hospital in Ijaiye, Abeokuta, from her home in Oke Lantoro when she was abducted. Her husband, Ogunbunmi Lateef, reported the incident after receiving a chilling WhatsApp message that confirmed his wife’s abduction by unknown armed men.
The abduction took place under mysterious circumstances, leaving the family and the local community in shock. Mr. Ogunbunmi recounted the terrifying moment when he received the notification of his wife’s kidnapping, describing it as his worst nightmare.
Police Spokesman Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident in a statement released on Thursday. She reported, “One Ogunbunmi Lateef of Oke Lantoro reported that his pregnant wife due for delivery left home for State Hospital Ijaiye Abeokuta. He received a WhatsApp message confirming the abduction of his wife by unknown armed men.”
Authorities are currently investigating the abduction, although further details have not been disclosed to the public. The police have assured the community that they are doing everything in their power to locate Mrs. Ogunbunmi and bring the perpetrators to justice.
