Cosmos Trade Nigeria Limited has launched its groundbreaking Gelato and Coffee University in Lagos.
The momentous occasion was marked by commendations from the Lagos State Government, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu lauding the initiative as a visionary stride towards economic diversification and innovation.
Representing Governor Sanwo-Olu, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, the State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, extolled Cosmos Trade Nigeria’s efforts.
She highlighted the University’s potential to transform culinary arts into a thriving economic sector, fostering talent and entrepreneurship.
“This institution is a testament to Cosmos Trade’s dedication to nurturing creativity and expertise, blending traditional methods with modern techniques,” she remarked.
Governor Sanwo-Olu’s message emphasized the broader cultural and economic implications of the University. He noted that in a world where culinary arts are intertwined with culture and innovation, Gelato and Coffee University stands as a beacon of progress.
“This establishment will train, inspire, and empower the next generation of culinary artists and entrepreneurs, elevating Nigeria’s standards in gelato and coffee making, and creating new economic opportunities,” he said.
Mr. Tunji Olaniyi, Managing Director of Cosmos Trade Nigeria and the visionary behind the University, shared the inspiration behind the project. Initially focused on selling equipment, the company identified a critical need to educate their clients on proper food safety protocols and production techniques.
“Our success is tied to the success of our clients. By training them well, we ensure that they thrive, which in turn benefits our business,” Olaniyi stated.
The University aims to serve two primary groups: entrepreneurs seeking to enhance their coffee shop businesses and individuals acquiring skills for employment in the hospitality sector.
Olaniyi expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government for their support and reiterated Cosmos Trade’s commitment to responding to market demands and client needs.
The inauguration of Gelato and Coffee University is more than just an educational milestone; it signifies a new chapter in Nigeria’s culinary arts, blending local ingredients with global expertise to foster economic growth and creativity.
