A private security guard, Yusuf Akadogo, tragically lost his life after being fatally stabbed while intervening in a minor quarrel in the Idi-Araba area. The assailant, identified as an Okada rider, is currently on the run.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, which took place on Thursday around 9:20 p.m. on Igbira Road. According to Hundeyin, the police received a distress call from a concerned community member about a disturbance.
Upon arrival, police found that Akadogo had been stabbed in the stomach while attempting to resolve a dispute between the Okada rider and another individual. Despite being rushed to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for urgent medical attention, Akadogo succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack. The police have launched a manhunt, with the area under surveillance to apprehend the perpetrator.
In a separate incident, Lagos police arrested four men involved in a warehouse burglary in the Ikota area.
On June 11, at about 4:30 p.m., police acted on a theft report from a warehouse owner in Idi-Oro Mushin.
The suspects, including a 25-year-old security man and a 33-year-old supervisor, were caught with stolen goods, including two large speakers. The mastermind, known as Pastor, remains at large.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen items. Investigations into both incidents continue as the community reels from these disturbing events.
