Armed arsonists attacked the Ogbaru Local Government Area Headquarters Secretariat, setting four patrol vehicles ablaze.
The Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has vehemently condemned the attack, labeling it an act of cowardice. Remarkably, no casualties were reported in the incident.
According to initial reports, the assailants, numbering several and arriving on motorcycles and in a vehicle, opened fire indiscriminately upon arrival. In the wake of the attack, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations spearheaded a joint security force, including members of the Army and Navy, to conduct an immediate on-the-spot assessment of the situation. The combined security forces have launched ongoing operations to track down and apprehend the perpetrators.
CP Itam commended the bravery and resilience of the security operatives involved, reaffirming the commitment of the Anambra State Police Command to maintaining public safety.
