Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru has once again extended a helping hand to over 8,500 households across the Lagos East Senatorial District by distributing food packs in celebration of the Ileya edition of Eid-el-Kabir.
The beneficiaries, who were drawn from the 16 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas of the district, expressed their gratitude during the distribution at various venues in their communities.
This initiative follows closely on the heels of a similar distribution where Senator Abiru provided over 10,000 food packs to vulnerable residents, marking his 60th birthday just 90 days ago.
Senator Abiru, who chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, and also heads the Southern Senators’ Forum, conveyed his Sallah goodwill message to the constituents.
He reaffirmed his commitment to legislative efforts and programs aimed at enhancing the quality of life for all Nigerians, particularly those in Lagos East.
Expressing concern over the economic challenges, especially the high cost of staple foods during the festive season, Senator Abiru urged patience with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assuring constituents that the government’s policies will soon yield positive outcomes.
Highlighting the impact of his Food Packs Programme, Senator Abiru emphasised its role in alleviating the hardship faced by Lagos East residents.
He also commended the efforts of the federal government in ensuring food security and price stability, as well as the interventions by Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
This latest distribution adds to Senator Abiru’s track record of humanitarian efforts.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he disbursed more than N150 million to over 2,500 vulnerable individuals through a financial relief scheme, providing monthly stipends to ease the economic impact of the pandemic.
The food pack distribution aims to bring joy to the residents of the Lagos East Senatorial District and ensure they have a festive and merry Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
