In a bold and decisive counter-terrorism operation on Thursday, June 13, 2024, the Nigerian Army achieved a significant victory against terrorism in Kaduna State.
Troops successfully eliminated six terrorists and seized a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, delivering a powerful blow to the insurgents’ capabilities.
The operation, targeting known terrorist hideouts in the Birnin Gwari general area, was part of a special clearance mission aimed at restoring peace and security in the region.
The troops meticulously swept through Maidaro, Ngade Alha, Dogon Dawa, Damari, Saulawa, Farin Ruwa, Maganda, Sabon Layi, and Kampanin Doka villages.
The initial contact occurred in Saulawa, where troops engaged and neutralized two terrorists. During this encounter, they recovered a Baofeng radio and a motorbike, signaling the start of a highly successful mission.
The operation continued in Farin Ruwa, where troops engaged in further combat, neutralizing an additional four terrorists. Among the recovered arms were a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), two AK-47 rifles, six AK-47 magazines, one FN rifle magazine, 22 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, 51 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, and another motorbike.
This clearance operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of the citizens in Kaduna State and other troubled areas. The successful mission marks a significant step forward in the fight against insurgency in Nigeria.
