In a strategic offensive against kidnapping and criminal activities, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) conducted a successful clearance operation on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
This operation led to the destruction of multiple kidnappers’ camps and the recovery of valuable items in the Chinkai Forest, Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The operation was initiated based on actionable intelligence reports highlighting the persistent criminal activities of terrorist groups hiding in the Chinkai Forest.
Troops from the 93 Battalion Sub-Sector 3B OPWS executed a meticulous sweep through the dense forest, notorious for housing kidnappers’ camps. The sight of advancing troops caused the terrorists to flee, allowing the soldiers to dismantle several makeshift structures associated with notorious kidnapping kingpins such as Isah, Shagari, Dogo, and Teller.
During the operation, the troops recovered significant items from the dismantled camps, including 12 mobile phones, 3 international passports, and various mystical charms used by the criminals.
This decisive operation underscores the unwavering commitment of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS to tackle insecurity in Taraba State. The public is urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting any suspicious activities within their communities.
The Nigerian Army remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, reaffirming their commitment to eradicating criminal elements that threaten the peace and stability of Taraba State and its environs.
