The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has ordered a high-powered investigation into the suspected murder of Andrew Ochekwo. This decision follows allegations and counterarguments surrounding the case, including the disappearance of two women, Celine and Afiba, after visiting Ochekwo in Aba, Abia State.
In response to public interest and the serious nature of the allegations, the IGP has tasked the Monitoring Unit with conducting a meticulous investigation.
This probe will also examine the roles of the team from Abia State and the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (IGP-IRT) involved in the initial investigation. The Monitoring Unit has been given two weeks to complete its work and submit a detailed report.
The IGP assures the public that the investigation will be conducted with the highest professionalism and integrity. He urges all stakeholders to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed without interference.
