A delegation from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau visited former Nigerian football star Tijani Babangida to offer condolences following a tragic accident that claimed the lives of his brother and infant son.
The visit, which took place at a hospital in Abuja, was to comfort Babangida, who was involved in a devastating auto crash along the Kaduna-Zaria Road last Thursday.
The crash tragically resulted in the death of Babangida’s younger brother, Ibrahim, a member of Nigeria’s historic 1993 FIFA U17 World Cup-winning Golden Eaglets.
Additionally, Babangida’s infant son, Fadil, succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident during surgery on Friday night. Babangida’s wife, Maryam, survived but underwent intensive facial surgery.
The delegation included key figures from the NFF, such as Executive Committee member Timothy Heman Magaji, General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, and Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen. Also present were NPFL Board Member Jude Anyadufu, Bauchi State Football Association Chairman Pascal Patrick, and former international players Emmanuel Babayaro, Austin Popo, and Mallam Nasiru Jibril, among others.
During the visit, the NFF officials expressed heartfelt condolences to Babangida and his family while praying for the swift recovery of Maryam, who remains in intensive care at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria.
