In a collaborative effort between the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Nigerian Army’s 15 Field Engineering Regiment stationed in Badagry, a significant blow was dealt to illicit alcohol production in the region.
The joint operation successfully dismantled an illegal drinks manufacturing enterprise run by Mr. Chinedu Okafor at his residence on No. 24, MTN Road, Badagry.
The crackdown on Mr. Okafor’s suspicious activities began with the vigilance of the Nigerian Army, which led to his apprehension and subsequent transfer to NAFDAC officers at the Ports Inspection Directorate located at Seme Border.
Following a thorough inspection, NAFDAC officers seized all equipment and raw materials used in the unlawful production of alcoholic beverages, effectively shutting down the illicit factory.
Further investigations into Mr. Okafor’s activities uncovered a long history of involvement in this criminal enterprise, posing a serious threat to the integrity of regulated alcohol products within the Badagry vicinity.
NAFDAC has stressed the importance of public vigilance and encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activities to protect public health and safety.
Mr. Chinedu Okafor will be prosecuted for his illicit operations, and all confiscated products will be destroyed.
The estimated value of the seized items exceeds fifty million naira (₦50,000,000), underlining the magnitude of the illegal activity uncovered by this operation.
