In a daring interception by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), two suspected robbers were apprehended and a cache of weapons was seized from a mini-bus during a routine patrol in Adekunle, Yaba, on Sunday night.
RRS operatives were conducting routine patrols when they halted a Lagos-bound mini-bus, locally known as Korope, headed towards Ketu/Ojota. Upon conducting a search of the vehicle, they uncovered three locally manufactured pistols and six cartridges concealed within.
The two suspects, identified as Ademola Adeniyi (38) and Anjorin Afeez (41), were promptly arrested at the scene.
Initial investigations suggest that the pair had boarded the mini-bus at Jeba Bus Stop in Ebute Metta, en route to carrying out a robbery.
Authorities have since initiated further investigations into the matter, with the detained suspects cooperating with law enforcement to uncover the full scope of their intended criminal activities.
The successful operation underscores the RRS’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety within the Yaba community.
