The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Olanipekun Olukoyede, has issued a stern response to former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, declaring his unwavering commitment to pursuing corruption allegations against Bello to their conclusion, even at the cost of his resignation.
Olukoyede’s comments came amidst allegations of non-cooperation from the former governor, who has reportedly refused to comply with EFCC directives.

Speaking boldly at a press conference, Olukoyede criticized Bello’s perceived evasion tactics, revealing that he personally reached out to the former governor as a gesture of respect, urging him to appear before the commission to address the allegations leveled against him.
Shockingly, Olukoyede recounted how Bello declined the invitation, insisting that EFCC officials travel to his hometown for his arrest.
“I made a direct call to Governor Yahaya Bello to request his appearance before the EFCC,” Olukoyede disclosed, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to due process. “Unfortunately, his response was unacceptable. He demanded that we deploy our personnel to effect his arrest in his village.”
The EFCC chairman further hammered on the gravity of the situation, asserting that any attempts to obstruct Bello’s lawful arrest would be met with legal consequences.
