Professor Yinka Olomojobi, a respected law professor at Babcock University in Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, fell victim to armed gunmen who also abducted two others in the Iperu area.
The unfolding events occurred on Friday evening at the Ajadeh Event Centre along Sagamu Road, where Professor Olomojobi valiantly resisted abduction, resulting in his fatal shooting at approximately 9:20 pm.
The Ogun State Police Command has swiftly responded, with spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirming the arrest of one suspect linked to the crime.
The suspect apprehended is Awada Ishaya from Plateau State, employed just two weeks prior by the event centre, prompting police to launch a discreet investigation into his potential involvement.
According to Odutola, the sequence of events that led to the tragic demise of Professor Olomojobi and the abduction of two others unfolded under suspicious circumstances.
The late professor was rushed to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, where his death was confirmed.
