The Isolo community in Lagos State was plunged into mourning as news spread of the death of the Osolo of Isolo, Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka.
The monarch, aged 64, departed from this world shortly after observing Eid prayers on Wednesday, leaving behind a legacy of 20 years on the throne.
The confirmation of Oba Agbabiaka’s demise was made public by the Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area, Olasoju Adebayo, through an official statement. Adebayo, while not disclosing the cause of the monarch’s death, announced that the late ruler would be laid to rest by 4pm the same day, in accordance with Islamic customs, at his palace located at 3/5 Akinbaye Street, Isolo.
The announcement conveyed the condolences of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who directed the formal communication of the monarch’s passing. “I have the instruction of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to formally announce the passing of the paramount ruler of Isolo Kingdom, Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, Adeola Olushi III, today April 10, 2024,” read the statement.
Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka’s reign as the Osolo of Isolo spanned two fruitful decades, during which he endeared himself to his subjects through initiatives aimed at community development and welfare.
