In a bold stance against economic monopolies, Dr Oladoyin Odebowale, a senior lecturer of Classics at the University of Ibadan, has issued a compelling call for Nigerians to boycott products from industrial giants Dangote and Bua.
The academic, known for his outspoken views, made the declaration on Thursday, February 28, 2024, through a post on his Facebook timeline.
Dr Odebowale minced no words as he urged citizens to seek alternatives and cease purchasing items from the mentioned conglomerates.
“They are not your friends. You gain nothing patronizing monopolists. You only whet their appetite for extortion,” he cautioned.
Expressing his personal commitment to the cause, Odebowale revealed, “I have not spent my money on any of their products for a long time. I will NOT buy petrol refined by Dangote with my money. He and his gang are among the enemies of the Nigerian people.”
Highlighting specific products, the lecturer emphasized his decision to abstain from purchasing spaghetti, Indomie, and even cement from Dangote and Bua.
“I bought cement from Lafarge until I could not afford the current crazy price. We can boycott those elements protected by the State. The completion of my project can wait. I will not assist Dangote and his gang with my little savings.”
