The whereabouts of Jumoke Onibread, the once bread hawker who photobombed a picture with photographer TY Bello and British rapper Tinie Tempah in 2017, have become a subject of interest among Nigerians.
Jumoke, a 27-year-old mother of two, was discovered while hawking bread on the streets of Lagos, showcasing an inadvertent charm that caught the attention of the photographer and social media followers alike.
TY Bello, impressed by Jumoke’s accidental presence in the photo shoot, shared the image on Instagram, sparking a wave of inquiries about the mysterious bread seller. Questions arose, pondering whether she was a model and how she skillfully balanced the bread on her head.
Clarifying the situation, TY Bello explained that Jumoke was not a model but a humble bread seller who had unintentionally become the focus of a captivating photograph. Determined to find her, TY Bello retraced her steps to where the photo was taken, leaving a message for anyone who might come across Jumoke.
Jumoke’s life took an enchanting turn as offers of education and financial support poured in. Despite speaking little English and earning a modest profit of 300 – 700 naira daily, she became the protagonist of a real-life fairy tale.
CNN reported that Jumoke, who had previously worked as a hairdresser in Osun state before venturing to Lagos to sell bread, received opportunities for education. A generous bank stepped forward to cover the educational expenses for her children.
In a remarkable development, the Sujimoto Group and Poise Nigeria jointly initiated a scholarship for Jumoke to learn Etiquette, Social grace, and Grooming for a year. This scholarship promises to equip her with skills beyond her previous life as a bread hawker.
Adding to the list of opportunities, Payporte, a prominent Nigerian e-commerce brand, reached out to Jumoke for their upcoming billboard campaign, further solidifying her transition from the streets of Lagos to the spotlight.
As Nigerians eagerly inquire about her current whereabouts, Jumoke Onibread’s story stands as a testament to the transformative power of unexpected moments and the unwavering support of those willing to extend a helping hand.
