The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, took center stage as he presided over the public presentation of the 2024 Seasonal Climate Prediction (SCP) organized by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET).
The event, held under the theme “Facilitating a Weather-Resilient Economy through Early Warnings for All to Foster Renewed Hope and Sustainable Development,” unfolded a roadmap crucial for the nation’s future.
While disclosing this, Gbenga Saka, S. A. Digital media to the Hon. Minister, highlighted the SCP’s pivotal role in informing decision-making across various sectors.
The minister emphasized its significance in mitigating the global climate crisis’s impacts, particularly on food security and aviation safety. Advocating for collaborative efforts, he stressed the need to bolster national resilience in the face of ever-changing weather patterns.
During his speech, Minister Keyamo underscored, “As we gather here today, we know the important role of accurate and timely climate predictions in shaping our preparedness and responses to ever-changing weather events.”
He added that the unveiled information represents a crucial roadmap for communities, businesses, and policymakers to navigate the upcoming 2024 seasons, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The distinguished gathering included former Aviation Minister, Ambassador Kema Chikwe, members of the National Assembly, and representatives from the Governor’s forum. Notably, Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, participated virtually, emphasizing the event’s nationwide importance.
