The Post Primary Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) officially unveiled the Education Management Information System (EMIS) at its headquarters in Ibadan.
Under the leadership of Chairman Pastor Akinade Alamu, the EMIS is positioned as the linchpin of a centralized education data repository, facilitating comprehensive information collection, analysis, and streamlined education planning and management.
Pastor Alamu, during the inauguration, underscored the pivotal role of the EMIS Unit in fostering accessibility to quality education and enhancing content delivery. He emphasized that the digitalization of TESCOM’s activities preceded the establishment of the new unit.
Furthermore, Pastor Alamu commended the Department of Planning Research and Statistics for diligently maintaining up-to-date information and statistics. This commitment, he noted, played a pivotal role in securing a World Bank Grant for Oyo State.
The chairman revealed that the commission had applied for the grant two years prior, and the globally recognized data from the EMIS Unit, particularly during the recruitment of 5,000 teachers through a computer-based test, contributed significantly to Oyo State’s qualification for the grant.
Mrs. Taiwo Olajombo, the Director of Planning Research and Statistics, urged all stakeholders to persist in their collective efforts to enhance every facet of education in the state. The inauguration of the EMIS Unit marks a significant leap towards a technologically advanced educational landscape in Oyo State.
