In a significant stride toward ensuring a seamless Governorship Primary Election in Edo State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) convened a crucial meeting with the Party’s stakeholders from the state at the National Secretariat in Abuja on January 15, 2024.
The resolutions, crucial to shaping the political landscape, were unveiled by the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Duro Meseko.
After meticulous consultations with Edo State APC stakeholders, the NWC decisively sanctioned the utilization of DIRECT PRIMARIES as the preferred mode of electing the Party’s gubernatorial candidate for the state.
Given the burgeoning number of aspirants vying for the party’s coveted ticket in Edo State, the NWC implored stakeholders to foster unity and collectively streamline the pool of contenders, thereby ensuring a more focused selection process.
Echoing the call for internal cohesion, the NWC admonished Governorship aspirants to embrace Party discipline and exhibit patriotism by avoiding resorting to legal channels at every juncture.
The emphasis was placed on the exploration of internal dispute resolution mechanisms post-Party Primaries.
With an eye on financial accountability, the NWC underscored the need for all members to diligently comply with their financial obligations to the Party, aligning themselves with the tenets of the Party’s Constitution for the smooth functioning of the APC.
In an effort to expedite proceedings, the NWC resolved that the e-registration exercise for fresh members be conducted post-Primaries to prevent any disruptions to the seamless execution of the crucial selection process.
Highlighting the urgency of fostering unity within the Party’s ranks, the stakeholders were urged by the NWC to champion a sense of solidarity, presenting a united front bound by progressive ideals.
This collective effort is seen as crucial in reclaiming the Party’s mandate in Edo State.
Key figures present at the pivotal briefing included the Edo State APC Publicity Secretary, Barr. Peter Uwadie-Igbinigie, and the Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim.
